The first destination will be the Brunei Darussalam. Well, Brunei Darussalam is considered as one of the places in Borneo that is well known with its richness in ecotourism. Since most of its land is still covered with about 75% of tropical rainforest, people usually went to Brunei Darussalam seeking for the nature tours. The highlighted eco-attractions are listed below. Here,tourist can choose either two of the location below, whether they will be going for Merimbun trip or the Selirong Island Trip.


Merimbun Heritage Park

Tourists will travel by road from Bandar Seri Begawan, about one and a half hour drive into the heart of the Tutong district. Tasek Merimbun is the largest water lake in Brunei. The park which was declared an ASEAN National Heritage site in 1984 covers 7800 ha. The area is made up of extensive tracts of primary and secondary rainforest, coupled with large areas of peat swamp forest. The park has a rich flora and fauna and this unique biodiversity has attracted both local and foreign researchers. The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including borneo gibbons, Maroon Langur (Red leaf monkey), crocodile, many birds and more than 40 species of dragonfly. The area is also interesting botanically, and has numerous pitcher plants and orchids.

Selirong Island


The amazing mangrove of Selirong is located in the outer southeastward reach of Brunei Bay. Here at this island, people can see the most tallest and largest mangrove of Borneo. Trip in this island is more towards walking and observing, where peple will walk through a 2km wooden walkway from the starting point at the headquarer to the end.
